The Department of Film, Television and New Media is seeking creative and experienced candidates in Game Development and Prototyping for Game Design Programme, with a focus on one or more of the following areas:
• Unreal Engine Programming and Development (Required)
• Game Mechanics Design
• Game Level
Design
• Game Character Design
• Game Animation Design
The successful candidate will be responsible
for maintaining a creative practice or research while teaching, managing,
supervising, facilitating field trips, tutoring and caring for both UG and PG
students.
Candidates should
possess demonstrated industry or academic experience in designing and
developing complete games, with solid technical and artistic skills. Applicants
are expected to actively engage in creative practice or research, while also
contributing to teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, project
mentorship, and community outreach.
Candidates should at
least hold a master’s degree. Specifically,
• Ph.D. (for
Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor) in Game Design, Computer
Graphics, Interactive Media, or a closely related discipline
• MA / MFA /MS (for
Senior Lecturer / Lecturer) with at least two-year game industry experience.
Proficiency in
Unreal Engine is required. Priority will be given to candidates with a strong
portfolio of games industry experience or published games-related creative
output. Candidates should be capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate
courses in Unreal Engine, Unity, Game Mechanics Design, Game Level Design, Game
Narrative Design, Game Animation Design, Game Character Design, Game Prototyping
Workflow, and Game UX Research, etc.
Proficiency in English is required. English
is the medium of instruction in the programme. Academic rank will be determined
in accordance with the successful candidate’s experience and research
accomplishments.
Benefits and Appointment Terms
Commencing salaries
will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe
benefits include housing allowance, leave, social insurance and commercial
insurance. Appointments to these positions will initially be made on a
fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
