Job Description
The program of Media and Communication Studies (MCOM) at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University invites applications from experienced student-centered scholars with expertise in one or more of the following fields: 1) AI-centered approaches to media studies; 2) communication theory; 3) journalism; 4) new media; 5) media production. The position offers opportunities to pursue innovative teaching and collaborative research within a growing international academic environment.
Job Requirement
Applicants must possess a PhD in Media and Communications or a related field and with a commensurable research profile. We are particularly interested in candidates conducting theoretically grounded qualitative and/or quantitative research with clear potential for international impact. The successful candidate will teach courses in areas such as communication theories, research methods, international communication, journalism studies, video production, graphic design, and social media, while also contributing new curricular directions informed by their research expertise. Candidates applying for the Associate Professor or above position should have a proven record of publications in high-quality journals, success in securing external research funding, and an ambitious research agenda. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose work engages with AI, digital media, datafication, or emerging communication technologies. Benefits and Appointment Terms
Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave, social insurance and commercial insurance. Appointments to these positions will initially be made on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
