Job Description

The Master of Arts of Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in Mental Health in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) at BNBU is inviting applications from student-centered and practice-based scholars.

 

The applicant is required to teach courses of mental health and social work as deliberated in the HKBU/BNBU MSW (Mental Health) curriculum and syllabi. The appointee is expected to arrange and supervise student attachments in mental health institutions and research projects. Assisting in Programme Promotions and Recruiments are necessary. Building relations with national and regional (GBA), provincial. and municipal social work and mental health academic as well as practice institutions are required. Fulfillment of any other official duties as assigned by the FHSS, the Graduate School (GS) and BNBU, is expected. He/she may be appointed to be responsible for more administrative duties, for example in leading the team of social work teachers, assisting in staff recruitment and evaluation, and supervising budgetary management。


Job Requirement

1.       Applicants should possess a PhD or DSW in Social Work and be trained in and have direct social work practice experiences in more than TWO of the following social work knowledge areas of:

General Social Work Theories, Case work methods and skills; Group work methods and skills; Community work methods and skills; Social Work research and methodologies; Social policies and legislations; Mental disorders pathology; Mental health issues among adolescent and youth; Family therapy in relation to mental health; Management in Mental health Treatment and Preventions Social Services; Crisis Intervention; Professional Mental Health Social Work Counseling and Therapies for example Narrative, CBT. and ACT etc.

2.       Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese;

3.       Evidence of practice experiences in mental health settings and social case, group and community work skills;

4.       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team;

5.       Knowledge in mental health social work service deliveries and laws, preferably with Chinese Hong Kong and Mainland experiences;

6.       Good connections with mental health social work institutions in China, and overseas;

7.       Previous teaching experience at the tertiary level is an asset.

 

Benefits and Appointment Terms

Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave, social insurance and commercial insurance. Appointments to these positions will initially be made on a fixed-term contract with mutual agreement.
